The Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is one of the 28 members of the state port system and manages 6 ports in the Canary Islands.

Its main task is to manage and control maritime and land operations related to port traffic, as well as to promote industrial and commercial activities linked to this traffic. It is also in charge of optimizing the economic and administrative management of the ports, ensuring that everything is carried out under principles of efficiency, productivity and safety.

In addition, they ensure the conservation and modernization of port infrastructures, adopting new technologies and complying with safety regulations. Also noteworthy is the involvement in multiple sustainability projects.

Project Scope

Holistic Data Solutions carried out the project “AI Insights Workshop: uses of AI in Autoridad Portuaria de Santa Cruz de Tenerife” with the aim of training its managers in identifying uses of AI in different areas of the company to automate and make more efficient different processes, as well as to have a better understanding of the opportunities that AI can bring in the future.

This service consisted of training sessions on artificial intelligence, as well as departmental sessions to identify all the potential use cases of AI in the different departments.

Project description

The AI Insights project developed by Holistic has identified more than 25 use cases of artificial intelligence in Autoridad Portuaria de Tenerife:

Among all departments 21 use cases were found in which Generative AI tools would make their processes more efficient.
In some departments up to 7 use cases were identified in which the use of Generative AI tools could automate and streamline business processes.
A distinction was made between those processes in which the use of Generative AI user tools would be sufficient to improve the processes and those use cases that would require custom developments.
4 use cases were identified in which the use of Predictive AI tools could improve decision making through data analysis and prediction.
Other AI technologies such as RPA or Image Recognition were identified that will be useful for 2 use cases in the organization.

Outcome

At the Tenerife Port Authority, multiple use cases have been identified in which AI tools can make many of the daily tasks of both workers and users of the Port Authority more efficient, faster and more enjoyable.

In addition, the various discussions about the possible use cases with the users and departments of the organization greatly improved the predisposition towards the technology, making even the most skeptical see its potential in daily tasks.
